
This article introduces the special issue of Acta Historica Tallinnensia on the potential and challenges of the “transnational turn” in Estonian historiography. It describes the general ideas behind the concept of transnational history, the historiographical debates around the concept, and the place of Eastern Europe (Estonia in particular) in this field. In addition, it introduces the contributions of this issue and discusses questions for future research.
